BLESSED ALBERO, ABBOT OF TEN DUINEN
Blessed Albero, second abbot of the Cistercian monastery of Dunen (Dunense)[Ten Duinen], a grandson of Count Theodoric of Alsace, despised the worldly honours and riches of time and zealously pursued the eternal pearl of the Gospel instead.
Having become a monk, he made such progress in the godly life that he was elected abbot in 1153. However, he retained this dignity for only two years, joyfully renouncing everything and retiring to a common monk's cell in Clairvaux. where, after a life entirely consecrated to God, he entered the Lord's rest towards the end of the 12th century.
