GERARD OF FLORENCE, RELIGIOUS
Gerard (Gerardus), a Capuchin lay brother of Florence, earned the reputation of a saint through the severity of his life, the purity of his manners and his extraordinary charity. The Bollandists* in their work do not provide any details save his name. He is reported to have cured several people by making the Sign of the Cross over them. Gerard died in 1586 at Jesi (Aesium, Aesis) in the Papal States. (Flor. Seraph. II. 567. 50)
