LAWRENCE, RELIGIOUS
Lawrence (Laurentius), a Cistercian monk at the Abbey of Dünen (Dunae, French: Dunes) in Flanders, had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin and was a man of great piety and many merits.
Henriquez* and Bucelin* list him as “blessed.” He died in 1261. However, there is no evidence that he was ever venerated by the church; for this reason the Bollandists* list Lawrence among the Praetermissi (VII. 597).
