SAINT TETRICUS, BISHOP OF LANGRES
Saint Tetricus, a son of Bishop Gregory (Gregorius) of Langres and his wife Armentaria, became his father's successor to the episcopal see in 541. For his deceased father he built a magnificent tomb. Judging by the many churches, altars and monasteries he consecrated [as documented in the church archives] Tetricus was an extremely active bishop and also took an active part in the synods held in his time. Since he eventually needed a coadjutor because of his old age and increasing frailty [he suffered a stroke], Munderic was assigned to him as such with the right of succession. Saint Tetricus died in 572 (II. 633–635).
