BLESSED JOHN HOGG, PRIEST AND MARTYR
Blessed John Hogg, Priest and Martyr, was born at Cleveland, North Riding, Yorkshire, England; on May 27, 1590 he was hanged, drawn, and quartered at Durham. He studied at Reims from October 15, 1587, and was ordained with his fellow martyrs BB. Richard Holiday and Richard Hill on September 23, 1589. They were all arrested while taking up their posts in the north of England and condemned for treason as seminary priests. Blessed John Hogg was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1987 along with George Haydock and Companions.
