SAINT SARAH, VIRGIN AND ABBESS
Saint Sara [Sarah] (feast day: July 13) was a virgin and abbess in the Scete desert in Egypt. Distinguished by her chastity, wisdom and humility, she lived at the time of Emperor Theodosius the Elder, i.e. towards the end of the 4th century.
Her daily prayer in her daily trials was: "Lord, give your servant the gift of strength!" She is pictured praying in the solitude of a hut on the Nile river, with the rosary in one hand, the cross in the other, sometimes with a beech and the scourge of penance. Artur* lists her on May 30.
