BLESSED RICHARD, ABBOT
Richard, first abbot of Saint-Marie-aux-Bois in the diocese of Toul in Lorraine, who died a saintly death in 1100, is listed as "blessed" by Migne*. An excellent student of Saint Norbert, he distinguished himself by his punctual obedience. His power over the possessed was attributed to his strict practice of this virtue. (La vie de Saint Norbert, 373*.)
