WELCOME!
SAINT ARCADIUS, ARCHBISHOP OF BOURGES
Saint Arcadius, commemorated on August 1, was Archbishop of Bourges (Bituricum) in France and lived in the 6th century.
Not much is known of him except that he was represented by the priest Probianus at the third Council of Orleans, which according to some was held in 538. It is certain that he ordained St Patroclus, hermit in Berry, as cleric and deacon. Sources vary regarding the exact year of his death; but the Bollandists* consider it highly probable that he died in 545.
