SAINT EOALDUS, BISHOP OF VIENNE

Saint Eoaldus [Ewald], commemorated on July 7, was Bishop of Vienne in France. Of royal descent, he led a pious life, built a beautiful church, for which Pope Constantine sent him relics of Saint Maurice, the leader of the Theban Legion. Eodaldus shone through many miracles and died a holy death around the year 714.
