Saints celebrated on the 22 May
WELCOME!
SAINT FULGENTIUS, BISHOP OF OTRICOLI
Saint Fulgentius, commemorated on May 22, was Bishop of Otricoli (on the Tiber). Once he sent several gifts to the approaching Gothic king Totila in order to gain his favour for himself and his church. However, he was captured on his orders and handed over to some masons for safekeeping in the open air. A terrible rain dispersed them, while not a drop fell on the saint. This miracle inspired such awe that the king released the prisoner. Therefore, the rumour that this Saint Fulgentius had brick walls erected around him on Totila's orders and was left to die within them appears to be unfounded. This holy bishop lived in the 6th century.
