ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST
Saints celebrated on the 13th of August
Saint Genesius, commemorated on August 13, Bishop of Laon (Lugdunum), is said to have been first an almoner at the Frankish court under Clovis and Bathildis, then to have become the successor of Saint Annemund (Annemundus) in the archiepiscopal see of Laon and to have exercised the pastoral office with commendable zeal until 684.
However, he is probably identical with another Saint Genesius. A mix-up based on a spelling error could mean that Lyon (Lugdunum Aeduorum) was this bishop's see rather than Laon (Lugdunum Clavatum). Of the latter, too, it is said that he was almoner under King Clovis. Moreover, Saint Annemund, whose successor Genesius is said to have been, was not Bishop of Laon, but of Lyon.
