ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL
Saints celebrated on the 14th of April
Wilichar (Willicarus), Bishop of Vienne, was expelled by the Saracens and subsequently presided over the monastery of the Holy Martyrs of Agaunum (Saint Maurice, Sankt Moritz) as abbot. As such, he received Pope Stephen II (III) during his flight from the Lombard king Aistulf, who was severely oppressing the Roman Church. He was also the first bishop to proclaim Charles the Great as King of the Franks after the death of Carlmann. He died piously in 753 after a pious life. The Bollandists* mention him among the praetermissi. (II. 200)
