WELCOME!
BLESSED ALBERT, BISHOP OF RIGA
Albert, Bishop of Riga in Livonia, entered the Cistercian Order in his youth, where he made such progress in virtue that he was elevated to the episcopal see of Riga. As bishop of this diocese, he distinguished himself particularly through the spread of the faith in Livonia and by taking charge of the Order of the German Livonian Brothers of the Sword, prescribing rules and statutes for them. He flourished around the year 1200 and is considered by some to be among the "Blessed."
