ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY
Saints celebrated on the 2nd of February
WELCOME!
Saint Pigmenius (Pimenius), commemorated on February 2, was a confessor whose relics were venerated in the monastery of Casalegas. Most probably he held the office of bishop, since a diocese subordinate to the archdiocese of Merida (Emerita) was established in his honour by King Wamba in Talavera in 676. Further details cannot be established with certainty. Most writers therefore identified him as a separate Saint, while Cardoso* reckons him to be Bishop Pimenius, who was present at the Council of Toledo in 638. His veneration in Spain is, in any case, established. It was confirmed by the Twelfth Council of Toledo. (I. 267 app. 942).
