SAINT SIGON, ABBOT
Saint Sigon, commemorated on September 19, was an abbot of Sigestre [Ségriès] also called Seganus and Sequanus. The Bishop of Langres ordained him a priest before he had reached the prescribed age. Advanced in learning and virtue, he built himself a monastery in the forest of Sigestre. The good discipline that flourished there soon earned him great renown and attracted many disciples. His holiness and the accompanying gift of miracles moved the pious King Guntram to bestow upon him considerable estates. Saint. Sigon died during the lifetime of Guntram, King of Burgundy, on September 19, 580. (Burg. II. 233)
