BLESSED JULIA, VIRGIN AND ABBESS OF TRIER

Julia, commemorated on July 7, was a virgin of Trier mentioned by Grevenus*, though the Bollandists* are unable to provide reliable information about her.

Upon further research, we discovered that in his work, Bucelin* lists only one Julia, whom he designates as "Blessed" on September 17; she was the third abbess of the Horreen or Orreen (Horreum) convent in Trier and died around the year 730. She is likely the one referred to here. In Zedler* (XLV. 723), she is accorded the title of "Saint" and is likewise identified as the third abbess (II. 450).
