WELCOME!
| BLESSED LEOTHERIC, RELIGIOUS |

Blessed Leotheric (Leothericus), commemorated on September 14, was a monk of Corméry (Cormaricum) in the region of Tours (in Turonibus). He lived at the end of the 11th century and died in 1099 in Vonte (Vedunta) in the region of Tours (Touraine). According to Mabillon*, he was buried in the chapel of Blessed Nicholas at the Corméry monastery, where his tomb is the object of lively pilgrimage because of the many miracles God performed at that site. Mabillon* and Migne* refer to him as "blessed." He does not, however, enjoy public veneration; the old stone sarcophagus, though, which can be seen in the nave of the Corméry monastery church, is frequently visited by inhabitants of the surrounding villages as an object of great veneration. This is what the Bollandists* note of him in their appendix to September 14. (VIII. 782).
