ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH
Saints celebrated on the 12th of March
SAINTS INNOCENT AND RASUS, BISHOPS
Saints Innocent, Rasus and Julian (Innocentius et Rasus Episc. et Julianus Romae.) are listed in the Martyrology of Saint Jerome* and other sources. Several martyrologies refer to these saints as confessors. Some handwritten manuscripts mention Saints Innocent and Rasus, Bishops. The locations of their seats are not specified.
It has been suggested that this Innocent is the same person as the first Pope of that name. However, the Bollandist Henschenius* (II. 106) is adamant that Pope Saint Innocent I. is another man altogether. This is also the view of the Bollandist Cuperus*, stated in his article about this holy pontiff (July VI. 549).
The bishops Innocent and Rasus probably came to Rome at the time of persecution and died or were killed there, or their bodies were brought there after their death to be buried in the eternal city.
