  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY Saints celebrated on the 30th of January WELCOME! SAINT SERENA, MARTYR Saint Serena (feast day  January 30 , or alternatively June 25 ) was a martyr whose relics were transferred from Spoleto (not  Cordoba ) to Metz in the year 970 by Bishop Theodoric I and interred in the Church of the Mother of God. Accounts of her life and suffering are based on pious tradition. It is said that, following the death of her husband, she dedicated the remainder of her life exclusively to God and to serving her fellow Christians who were poor, sick, or imprisoned; she also buried the bodies of many holy martyrs. When the judge of Spoleto, named Lucius, learned of this, she was arrested and, after enduring many cruel tortures, gave up her spirit. This occurred around the year 291, during the reign of Emperor Diocletian. Her elevatio (the ceremonial raising or translation of her relics) is commemorated on  June 25  (according to  Canisius *)...

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JULY Saints celebrated on the 3rd of July WELCOME! SAINT SERENA, MARTYR OF TARSUS Saint Serena - commemorated on  July 3 - is thought to have been a martyr at Tarsus. Because her story is of doubtful authenticity, the  Bollandists * list her merely among their Praetermissi (I. 630). SAINT SERENA, MARTYR OF ROME Saint Serena (commemorated on August 16 ) was a distinguished Roman lady converted by the deacon Cyriacus .  SHE GAVE THE BELIEVERS MUCH COMFORT AND HELP Many sources, including the  Roman Martyrology , refer to her as the wife of the Emperor Diocletian. Serena, at the time of persecution,  gave the believers much comfort and help. The time and manner of her death - legend has it that she died of a deadly fever - is unknown; [she is also called a martyr].  SHE HAD BURIED THE MARTYR SUSANNA WITH HONOUR Her body was interred next to the virgin and martyr Susanna , her relative, whom she herself buried with honour in the cemetery of Saint Alexander.
