VENERABLE JAMES OF CARPI
Venerable James of Carpi (Jacobus Carpensis), general of the Olivetans founded in 1319 by Blessed Bernard, was a physician before he joined the monastery and thus turned into a "soul doctor".
He died in 1493 while constantly praying the Psalms, which he continued to do until his very last breath. His surname Carpensis is probably derived from Carpi, a town in Modenese. Bucelin*, in his main works, features him on January 5, but in the same author's supplements he is listed on November 5.
