SAINT ARCHIPPUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS

The Greek Meneae* list the following holy martyrs: Saint Archippus, who, for his Christian faith, was dragged to death by horses; Philemon, who apparently was burned in a fiery furnace; Apollonius, whom the persecutors threw onto a burning ship, whereupon he perished in the sea; Alexandrius (Alexander, Alexandrion) who was bound to a wheel and rolled down from on high; and Epimaches and Onesimus, who suffered decapitation. The exact time and place of their martyrdom is not known.

PRAYER:

Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saints Archippus, Philemon, Apollonius, Alexandrius, Epimaches and Onesimus may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
