SAINT EPHREM, BISHOP AND MARTYR
Saint Ephrem (Ephraem) was a bishop and martyr in the Crimea (Chersonesus Taurica). His death for the holy faith occurred in the early 4th century.
The Bollandists* list Basileus, Eugenius, Agathodorus, Elpidius, Aetherius and Capitus as his companions in suffering; the Roman Martyrology* features the same fellow martyrs along with Saint Ephrem on March 4, but mention two further saints, Nestor and Arcadius, and name Basilius instead of Basileus. (I. 639)
