SAINT ONESIMUS, BISHOP OF SOISSONS
Saint Onesimus, Bishop of Soissons (Augusta Suessionum) was, according to the Gallia Christiana the seventh bishop in the line of succession there and the first of this name. Around the year 360 he had managed to completely wipe out the numerous remnants of paganism that still existed. His grave at the George Martyr Church outside the city became a place of refuge in all troubles for clergy and laity alike. In 896, the holy bishop's remains are said to have been transferred to a church of his name at Donchery near Sedan (according to Migne*). (III. 204)
