WELCOME!

SAINT PAULIANUS, BISHOP OF VELAY

Saint Paulianus, the sixth Bishop of Velay (Velaunum) or le Puy en Velay (Velavum, Podium Vellavorum), who upheld the Church of Christ in that region at the time of the fiercest storms, lived in the sixth century. The episcopal seat was then still in Ruessium, which place later took its name, Saint-Paulien. His successor, the holy Evodius, moved the bishop's seat to Puy in A.D. 565 (II. 749).
