SAINT PAULINUS THE YOUNGER, BISHOP OF NOLA
Saint Paulinus, called the Younger, Bishop of Nola in Campania, flourished in the early 6th century. He offered himself to the Vandals as a prisoner to free the son of a poor widow, since he had no ransom left but himself. As a slave, he laboured in his master's garden for a long time, until the latter recognised his wisdom and piety, and him gave freedom. This Saint Paulinus is often confused with the earlier Saint Paulinus, Bishop of Nola.
