Saints celebrated on the 23rd of July
The Bollandists* in their work mention Brigida (July 23) from Holland, a virgin and disciple of
Saint Dominic, "alumna, S. Dominici", and refer as to their source to Art. Gyn. Since we do not have this source, we cannot determine how their expression “alumna, S. Dominici” should be understood. In his martyrology on July 23, Artur* lists Widow Brigitta, who belonged to the Third Order of Saint Francis, but judging by the details he provided about her, she is none other than Saint Birgitta, who died on October 8.
[Saint Bridget of Sweden was listed in the earlier Roman Calendar for celebration on October 7, the day of her canonisation by Pope Boniface IX in 1391.]
