WELCOME!
SAINT THEOBALD, RELIGIOUS
Saint Theobald, (September 13, February 8, and November 6) is listed in the French Martyrology* on September 13, but in the Elenchus* on November 6. His birthplace is Chaix, parish of Bazeuge; his year of birth 990. Nothing has been handed down to us regarding his parents.
He studied at the school in Dorat, where St Israel was famous at the time. There he became a canon and treasurer of the monastery. All his efforts were directed towards ever greater self-improvement, never being idle, and constantly keeping God's presence before his eyes.
Because he considered himself unworthy, he did not receive priestly ordination, or any higher ordination. He went to his eternal reward on November 6, 1017. His relics are still venerated, having been brought to safety from the horrors of the French Revolution. Migne* lists him with the title "blessed." (Guerin)
