Born in 1815, Saint Philip Minh studied at College General in Penang from 1840 to 1846 before returning to Vietnam to serve as a priest. In 1853, he was martyred by beheading for refusing to trample the cross, deny his faith, or betray fellow priests. He is buried in Cai-mong, Vietnam. His relics are venerated at College General, and he was canonised by Pope John Paul II in 1988. The Church celebrates his feast day today.
PRAYER:
Saint Philip Minh and Companions, faithful servants of the Gospel, you chose Christ over comfort, and truth over fear. Help us to remain strong in faith and love, to pray with perseverance, and to follow the Lord with courageous hearts. Intercede for us, that we may become true witnesses of His love in the world.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
