SAINT FAUSTUS, BISHOP OF TARBES
Saint Faustus, who is commemorated on September 28, was Bishop of Tarbes¹ (Castrum Bigorrense, Tarba) in Gascony. Because of his faithful service in his office, he was exiled for some time, but was later allowed to resume his episcopal see. Saint Licerius [Lizier], later Bishop of Conserans (Conseranum) in Gascony, was one of his disciples. Saint Faustus may have died toward the end of the fifth century. (VII. 715).

¹THE DIOCESE OF TARBES
Erected in the 4th century, the diocese of Tarbes is the historical diocese of Bigorre, part of the larger region of Gascony. The diocese were suppressed following the concordat and restored in 1822. It has since covered the department of Hautes-Pyrénées. The name of the diocese was changed from the Tarbes to the Diocese of Tarbes et Lourdes on April 20, 1912.
