Saint Photinus, commemorated on March 1 and November 1, is said to have been the first Bishop of Benevento¹, sent there by the Apostle Peter himself. This is stated in the city's list of saints and in the chronological table of its bishops. His successor, Saint Januarius, is also venerated there. (Mart. 1, 2, and Elenchus)

¹THE DIOCESE OF BENEVENTO

According to an 11th-century episcopal list, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Benevento was founded in the first century. During the persecution of Diocletian there is a reference to a person named Januarius, who together with Proculus his deacon and two laymen was imprisoned and beheaded at Pozzuoli in 305. Januarius
is said to have been Bishop of Benevento before becoming Bishop of Naples.
