ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER
Saints celebrated on the 9th of October
WELCOME!
BLESSED GOSWIN, ABBOT
Blessed Goswin (Goswinus, Gosvinus) succeeded Abbot Alvisus - who was raised to the episcopate in 1131 - in the leadership of the Abbey of Achin or Anchin (Aquiscinctum) in Hainaut (French: le Hainaut). A contemporary writer describes him - according to the Bollandists* (Maji III, 110) - as "a relentless chastiser of his own body" and adds that Goswin never uttered a word regarding his mortifications, because he did not seek any human praise for it. He died on October 9, 1166. (IV, 1084).
