Saint Honoratus, commemorated on December 22, the second Bishop of Toulouse, was a Cantabrian (northern Spaniard) by birth. He lived in the 3rd century and is listed as the successor to Saint Saturninus and the second in the line of succession. He was himself succeeded by Saint Hilarius. His body was interred in the Basilica of Saint Saturninus and on October 7, 1265 was ceremonially exhumed, along with the remains of other saints. Quite a few dates have been provided as feast days: In Migne* and the Elenchus*, he is listed on December 21, and he appears also on October 7 in the section for "Omitted Entries," where it is noted that Castellanus* states he is venerated on December 16, whereas he actually lists him on December 10. The Bollandists* also cross-reference their discussion of him to both of these dates. Elsewhere (May IV. 136), Grevenus* notes him under May 18, though the Bollandists* add the comment that he is venerated on December 22.
