ST MOCELLOC, HERMIT - 7 MARCH

SAINT MOCELLOC, HERMIT

Saint Mocelloc (Mocellocus, Mochellocus), (March 7), was, according to Colgan*, one of the seven legendary hermits under the leadership of Saint Declan in the region of the Déisi near Lismore, and would thus have lived towards the end of the fifth century. He appears in the Martyrology of Tallaght* and in Gorman*; the Bollandists* omit him. He may perhaps be identical with Saint Kellenus and, according to Kelly's* notes (p. 86), also with Cell, Celloc, and Cellan.
