SAINT EPICTETUS AND 21 COMPANIONS, MARTYRS
The name Epictetus is derived from the Greek; it means acquired.
This Saint Epictetus was a martyr in Africa; according to the Bollandists*, his companions in suffering were: Saints Quinctus, Secundus, Jucundus, Saturninus, Vitalis, Quinctus, Vincentius, Felicitas, another Quinctus, Felix, Artaxes, Fortunatus, Rusticus, Sillus, Quietus, Pictus and five others. Apart from Saint Epictetus, the Roman Martyrology* names just Jucundus, Secundus, Vitalis, Felix and seven others. (I.567)
