SAINT HUNA OF ALSACE
Huna (Hunna) was a 7th century saint whose grave was visited by many pilgrims. Her prayers in combination with a nearby spring led to many miraculous cures.
Huna and her husband Hunon, both from Hunnaweyer (Hunaweiler), today's Hunawihr in Alsace in France, paid for the building of a new church in their hometown and donated their goods to the monastery founded by Dié of Saint Dié in the Vosges. Their son Deodatus became a holy religious. Huna, whose love for the poor was also very well known, died around 687. The year before he died, Pope Leo X placed Huna among the saints. Her relics, which were solemnly raised on April 15, 1520, went missing during the "reformation."
