Saints celebrated on the 26th of July
SAINT PASTOR, ABBOT AND CONFESSOR
Saint Pastor (July 26), an abbot and confessor, contemporary of the great Saint Antony (Antonius), lived for many years in the strictest austerity in Scete (Sceté) in the desert. That excellent teacher of the spiritual life had taught him (cf. Jan. II. 142) that one must always humbly lay down one's sins before the Lord and never ever feel safe from temptation to the end of life. Saint Pastor was so dead to the world and avoided all risks involved with it, so that he did not even want to see his mother when she came to the convent, but comforted her that they would meet again in heaven and there spend ample time together (VI. 307).
