ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY Saints celebrated on the 10th of February SAINT SCHOLASTICA, PATRON SAINT OF CHILDREN WITH EPILEPTIC FITS St Scholastica was the sister of St Benedict. She consecrated herself to God as a virgin and lived not far from the monastery of Monte Cassino founded by her brother. Two miracles, related by St Gregory, have remained famous: they show St Scholastica’s great purity of soul and the closeness of her union with God. As Benedict refused to prolong the spiritual conversation which each year he allowed his sister in a dependency of the monastery, Scholastica’s prayers obtained from heaven a violent storm and heavy rain which prevented her brother from leaving; they remained together the whole night, speaking of heavenly things. The day afterwards, St Benedict saw the pure soul of his sister going up to heaven in the form of a dove. St Benedict died in 547; St Scholastica died shortly before him PRAYER: O God, You caused the soul of Your blessed virgin
