PRAYER FOR THE BEATIFICATION OF VEN. HERMANN COHEN

WELCOME!

FR HERMANN COHEN (FR AUGUSTINE OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT)

(A brilliant musician, Fr Augustine (then Hermann Cohen) was invited to conduct a Festival Choir in a Catholic church in Paris. He was, like St Paul, instantly converted – during Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament Fr Augustine, of Jewish descent, heard from the Host a Voice saying, “I am the Way, the Life and the Truth”. He never looked back. Like St Paul he was able to say: “Scio cui credidi – I know him in whom I trust”.)

PRAYER:

Mary Immaculate Virgin Mother, who at the grotto of Lourdes restored to health Father Augustine of the Blessed Sacrament that he might serve you faithfully in your Order of Carmel, obtain, we pray, from the Blessed Trinity the grace … (here insert your intention) through the intercession and merits of your devout servant whose joy was to suffer for Jesus and to whom it was granted in answer to his heartfelt prayer to consecrate his life in its entirety to God’s will, service and glory.

Mary, Mother of God, glorify we beseech you, this your servant who, through the redeeming power of Christ present in the Holy Eucharist, was brought to the knowledge of the Truth.

Make known we pray, this apostle who was fired with devotion to the Blessed Sacrament of your Son’s love. May he bestow upon us, priests and laity alike, his burning zeal that the Divine Presence in the Eucharist be adored, the Mass celebrated with the reverence and sincerity, holy Communion received frequently and with devotion.

Grant that forthwith throughout the world and especially among your chosen people, Israel, there may be established the Eucharistic Kingship of the Son of David, the Living Bread who came down from Heaven in the womb of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. Amen.

“Bishop Konstant while Auxiliary Bishop in the Westminster Diocese issued the required imprimatur for this prayer.”

A POEM ON THE HOLY EUCHARIST

I know a secret key which never fails

To open the gates of Divine Mercy.

I know a river which will carry us

Into the promised land.

I know a palm-tree which will shelter us

From the burning heat of our exile;

I know a spring whose refreshing waters slake

Our thirst in the desert of this life;

I know a star which will guide us

As the pillar of cloud guided Israel

Across the sandy ocean of our existence

To the end of our Journey.

I know a dew which God sheds from heaven

And which must sustain us for the remainder

Of the road we have to travel;

I know a tree whose wood can sweeten

The bitter waters which are our

portion to drink here below,

And make them give us a foretaste

Of the heavenly Canaan.

I know a victim whose sacrifice ascends

In an odour of sweetness to the

God of Abraham;

And this secret key, this river, this palm tree,

this heavenly dew, this holocaust, is THE EUCHARIST.

Fr Hermann Cohen

FATIMA APPARITION - 13 AUGUST

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 13th of August Marian Feast Days WELCOME! FATIMA APPARITION - AUGUST 13 The Fatima Children “BUT IN THE END MY IMMACULATE HEART WILL TRIUMPH.” But in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me; it will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world. THE AUGUST 13 EVENTS On August 13, the children were in jail at Ourem. The civil administrator threatened to boil them in oil if they did not tell the Lady’s secret. Though badly frightened, they could not think of disobeying our Lady. In disgust, the administrator finally freed them. A large number of people, not knowing that the children had been kidnapped, went to the Cova for the scheduled appearance of the Lady. At noon, there was a loud clap of thunder. Then, according to an eyewitness: “Right after the thunder came a flash, and immediately we all noticed a little cloud, very white, beautiful and bright,...

ST BERTHA OF AVENAY, ABBESS AND MARTYR - 1 MAY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 1st of May WELCOME! ST BERTHA OF AVENAY, ABBESS AND MARTYR The name Bertha (Berta) is derived from the Old German  bercht, brecht, bert etc., meaning shiny, splendid.  Saint Bertha, a martyr and abbess of Avenay (Aveniacum) in the diocese of Rheims, was descended from a noble family. Married to  St Gumbert (April 29), she obtained her husband's consent to join the monastic life. She then built the aforementioned monastery of Avenay. Following an apparition of the Blessed Virgin, she received many nuns there. Once, when Bertha was silently praying for water for her monastery, St Peter appeared to her and showed her a place where there was a spring, which then began to flow into the monastery in a running stream (ex quo fonte mox rivus egressus secutus est eam ad coenobium remeantem).  Finally, towards the end of the 7th century, she was killed by her stepsons - for what reason is not specified, perhaps in ...
