ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER
Saints celebrated on the 9th of October
SAINT DENIS, BISHOP AND MARTYR
Saint Denis (Dionysius) first bishop of Paris, was one of six bishops sent to France in the middle of the third century by Pope Fabian. He was martyred with the priest Rusticus and the deacon Eleutherius at Catulliacum, now Saint-Denis.
Later on, the famous Abbey of Saint-Denis, in which the kings of France were buried, was built there. He is pictured with his half-severed head. St Denis is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.
PRAYER:
O God, for the propagation of the Faith among the nations, you in a wonderful manner raised your confessor, and for the instruction of the faithful, through him, gathered together in your Church yet a new congregation; grant us, your servants, that we may so profit by what he has instituted as to win an everlasting reward. Through our Lord. Amen.
