MARIE DE SAINTE-THÉRÈSE, VIRGIN
Marie de Sainte-Thérèse (Maria de S. Theresa), an Ursuline nun at St Jean d'Angely, had been persuaded by her parents to enter the convent of the Ursuline nuns, and only three years later she could bring herself to even attempt to strive for spiritual perfection.
Once she had made her profess, however, she never lost sight of the divine presence.
She received heavenly refreshment and enlightenment during prayer and meditation. In her last long and painful illness, after receiving the holy Sacraments, she had an apparition of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was united to hers. On this occasion she fell into ecstasy. She died after 24 years of religious life at the age of 39 on November 8, 1662 (Tagb.).
