SAINT EUDO, ABBOT
Saint Eudo (French St-Eudes), also called Odo by some, received his education in the monastery of the island of Lerins. Because of his excellent qualities, his superior instructed him to go with some monks to Carmeni in Velai (Bishopric of Geneva) in order to set up monastic life in the newly founded monastery and to rule it as abbot.
There St Eudo led his holy life for quite some time until he died around the year 700. He was succeeded by his nephew Theofred (French St-Chaffre, also St-Théofroi), whom he, by word and example, had trained beforehand to be a worthy abbot. (Lech., El.)
