Saints celebrated on the 13th of May
SAINT PAUSICACUS, BISHOP OF SYNNADA
Saint Pausicacus was the son of godly parents and lived in the seventh century. Born in Apamea in (Greater) Phrygia, at the time of the reign of Emperor Mauritius, he travelled through many cities and regions as a doctor and everywhere healed the sick free of charge.
Out of love for God, to whom he ceaselessly offered all these works, he finally left the world and became a monk. By prayer, fasting, and watching, he made such progress in virtue that God visited him with ever increasing graces.
The patriarch Cyriacus of Constantinople consecrated him bishop of the little town of Synnada. Initially, Pausicacus had tried to evade this consecration because of his humility. Afterwards, however, he led the flock entrusted to him for many years with conscientiousness and loyalty and, after a long and blessed episcopate, he entered into eternal joy.
