SAINT THOMAS SALUS, MONK
Saint Thomas Salus, a monk in Celesyria, once came to Antioch in Syria to get alms for his monastery. Anastasius, who was in charge of provisions and supplies, slapped him on the cheek, which annoyed those present. But St Thomas prophesied calmly, "I will ask no more of him, and he will give no more."
So it was. Anastasius died the following day, and on his way home, Thomas was summoned to immortal life at Daphne's infirmary. His body was initially buried in the pilgrim burial ground, but later transferred to the city of Antioch, because a number of miracles had occurred at his grave.
(St Thomas is also commemorated on May 24.)
