Saints celebrated on the 29th of June
Aletha Burgotta (Alexia, Aleza), a pious virgin in Paris, entered the Third Order as a youth and locked herself in a walled-up cell in the churchyard of Saint Innocent, where she lived in the strictest mortification. Thus she served her heavenly Bridegroom for the remaining 46 years of her earthly life.
Aletha was graced with many divine apparitions and honoured with the company of angels - no wonder, since she shunned human company and did not talk vainly to anyone.
All Paris held her in great esteem, and even the king considered her a saint. On June 29, 1466 she left for the eternal joy. Her body was buried in the churchyard of Saint Innocent, and King Louis XI of France erected a magnificent bronze statue in her honour.
Aletha is remembered on June 29 and June 28.
