ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY
Saints celebrated on the 31st of January
Blessed Eusebius, who is commemorated on January 31, was a native Scotsman. For some time he lived at the monastic institute of Saint Gall [Saint Gallen], but later went into solitude by retiring to the Victorsberg (Mount Victor) in Graubünden. This place takes its name from the church built by Emperor Charles the Bald, which was dedicated to Saint Victor. This area had become the property of the Saint Gall monastery. Here Blessed Eusebius led a holy life for many years and finally entered eternal rest in A.D. 884.
Legends relate that on one occasion Blessed Eusebius sharply reprimanded the vices of his neighbours and was therefore beheaded by them with a sickle, but the existing written records do not sufficiently prove this incident.
Bucelin* lists Blessed Eusebius on January 13 (II. 1130).
